Hey everyone! I’m sure some of you out there are curious about pizza sizes and how many slices you can get out of them. Today I wanted to chat with you all about understanding pizza sizes and the number of slices that each can get you.

Whether you’re hosting a party or just wanting to make sure you order enough for yourself, this blog is for you. Let’s jump into it!

Undeniably, pizza is one of America’s favorite snacks. On any given day, you can find someone indulging in a slice or two.

But it can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing the size of your pizza that works best for you. Thankfully, this is exactly why I’m here. Let’s get started with the sizes.

Pizza Sizes Explained

Typically, you’ll find the three most popular pizza sizes in the U.S. being small, medium and large.

Depending on the pizzeria, you may also be able to find other sizes such as extra large, jumbo, or even party sizes that are larger than large.

Before going any further, let’s establish what a standard slice of pizza looks like. Generally, I like to think that it looks like the slice you’ll get in your school cafeteria or in the freezer section of your local grocery store.

Besides, if you order out and have it delivered, your pizza slices are angled in the same way anyways. So, the slices will more or less follow a similar angle pattern no matter where you choose to get it from.

Pizza Sized By Group Size

Now, let’s look at how large each of these sizes really is. Typically, a small pizza will have a diameter of 8 inches or less and will serve 1 to 2 people.

A medium pizza, on the other hand, has a diameter of 10 inches and will serve 2 to 3 people. Finally, a large pizza will have a diameter of 12 inches and will serve 3 to 4 people.

So, how many slices does each of these sizes get you? A small pizza will give you 4 slices, a medium pizza will give you 6 slices, and a large pizza will give you 8 slices.

Of course, the number of slices in each pizza depends on the pizzeria you’re ordering from. Some may opt to cut their pizzas into fewer, bigger slices while others may go the opposite route and give you more, smaller slices.

Now, if you’re wondering which of these three sizes is right for you, I have some thoughts on that. Picking the right size pizza all boils down to your audience and how much money you’re willing to spend.

Pizza Size For Parties

For example, if you’re throwing a party and need enough pizza for 8 people or more, a large pizza won’t cut it and you may want to opt for an extra large or jumbo one instead.

On the other hand, if you’re just ordering for yourself or for two people, a small pizza would be a great choice.

The same goes for if you’re on a tight budget. However, if you’re hosting a movie night for the family or a small party, the medium size is your surest bet.

At the end of the day, understanding pizza sizes and the number of slices you can get out of them can be a bit tricky.

But keep in mind that typically, you’ll be able to find small, medium, and large sized pizzas regardless of the pizzeria, so that’s a great place to start. Anyways, I hope this blog gave some insight into pizza sizes and how many slices each are able to offer. Until next time, happy eating!
